Karthi, with love at heart but no money in hand and Nagarjuna, with Multi millions in hand and no one to love him meet together where blossoms the movie "The Thozha". The former realizes the importance of money in life and the latter feels the necessity and the value of love and care. Both characters are complimentary to each other.
It is a film not for entertainment but to spray the love over the roots of your soul and make you feel the warmth of it scene to scene. Karthi, after losing his parents in accident, is brought up by his mother's sister(Jeya Sudha) who already has a son and a daughter. Poverty steals away his education and makes him steal. He is out on parole, looks for a job, attracts Nagarjuna by his very nature and gets appointed as his caretaker.
The whole movie is about how Karthi, a frequent resident of jail, turns into a new leaf and on the other side how Nagarjuna, after mundane success in everything including money, finds the lost paradise. Karthi's family misunderstands him but it is Nagarjuna who shows them a mirror to Karthi's Soul with the power and money he has. Karthis's sister falls in love with a rich man's heir whose marriage bell rings because of power,money and status of Nagarjuna who, as the best friend would do, comes for help ( the tile "Thozha" is made alive") Again on another occasion, when Karthi's brother is searched by police in a case of attempt murder, it is Nagarjuna who comes for rescue by sending his caring lawyer-cum-friend (Prakashraj). Thus Nagarjuna extends his help to Karthi in times of need but sends Karthi himself away to care his family though he greatly needs him who has become his very life itself.
Life is a mystery. You are a mere puppet in the hands of destiny. Director unfolds the life of Nagarjuna as an example. Nagarjuna who knows nothing other than success is made to sit on a wheel chair when he flies in the sky. His money is countless but he is bedridden. The stress and the worries he has, especially after departing Nandhini (Anushka), his sweetheart poses a challenge to Karthi who simply washes his stress out by arranging a surprise birthday party, by calling his sweetheart understand each other and moreover reducing the distance between Nagarjuna and Streya who sincerely loves him. Though Karthi calls Nagarjuna as "anna" (brother), their love and care for each other cools our heart with their true friendship.
Comedy arises from the real nature of Karthi rather than from the little chances offered to Vivek, an affectionate lawyer who brings Karthi out on parole and directs him find a job at Nagarjuna's. Karthi's indulge in so called painting that Prakashraj buys for Rs. 2 lakh just for Nagarjuna and the stories thereafter leads to heart warming situational humour.
Anushka, Streya and Tamanna appear on the scene but no one including Tamanna gains momemtum because of the story that is centered on Karthi and Nagarjuna. They understand their limitations and leave way to Karthi and Nagarjuna by doing what they are asked for. Songs are few and they too react to the demand. Even a fight scene is not required to take it to a grand success. Because it is movie that aims to play the fibres of your heart and produce a melodious tune of love and relationship.
From beginning to end, no scene is boring. You feel more and think less. There are scenes which make you shed tears at the realisation of true love and care and there are scenes which make you laugh rolling on the floor. Tamil cinema has seen a heart-touching movie after a long time and this movie will definetly prove to be a milestone both for Karthi and Nagarjuna.
Thozha - the best movie that you can watch with your family.
